The Border-Kei Chamber of Business (BKCOB)

Founded in 1877, the Border-Kei Chamber of Business (BKCOB) is the recognized "Voice of Business" in the region, working to create an enabling environment for economic activity and a platform for business to flourish.

Headquartered in East London/Buffalo City with offices in Queenstown, the Border-Kei Chamber of Business is a not-for-profit, a-political, a-religious, membership based organization which counts over 700 businesses as members in good standing representing the private sector, thought leaders and academic institutions from a wide array of sectors.

The driving focus of the Chamber is to represent the interests of business by identifying, developing and promoting the major issues that contribute to economic activity and growth in the region as well as to reduce the barriers that threaten the regions global competitiveness.

The Border-Kei Chamber of Business affiliates and is a member of the national South African Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SACCI) which is in turn affiliated to the International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) and to NEDLAC. This provides our members with access through the Chamber to powerful decision making bodies that impact the business environment, nationally and internationally on issues such as tax policy; industrial and labour relations and economic controls.

At regional level, the Chamber strives to promote the socio-economic advancement of all people living and working in the Border-Kei region. It addresses issues around economic and industrial development; factory and business regulations; rates and local taxation; energy; town planning; crime; traffic and parking; regulations for informal traders; training needs; rail and air transport; freight handling; and tourist attractions.

Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber

The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber was established as the Port Elizabeth Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1994 with a view to fostering, encouraging, promoting, protecting, developing and establishing commercial and industrial enterprises within the Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch Metropole (now Nelson Mandela Bay). These functions had previously been provided by the Port Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce (established in 1864) and the Midland Chamber of Industry (established in 1927).

The Business Chamber is a non-profit business association, representative of a broad spectrum of businesses in Nelson Mandela Bay. It is the largest business association in the Eastern Cape with a membership of approximately 800 businesses. The Chamber is fully representative of the demographics of the business sector. It is leading business transformation by example, in its staff, Board and membership equity.

The aim of the Chamber is to connect business, and to stimulate economic progress in Nelson Mandela Bay. We provide services to business in the form of information, communication, seminars, task teams and networking functions. Lobbying, representation and strategic interventions are key focus areas, to facilitate an enabling environment for business.
